In Michigan zebra mussels are a problem. They make the water TOO clear and the algae and other plant life go wild and it ruins the natural ecosystem of that body of water.

thats very cool, and in the most respectful way possible, i think the demonstration could be more effective if you dump in two seperate, but equally sized containers of the mixture. one in each tank

I have seen a lot of comments on eating these mussels: these are freshwater, while edible, the ones you are thinking of at stores & restaurants are marine mussels. In fact, many freshwater species are endangered.

It's good to note that as a species they're incredibly good at this. There are some invasive species unfortunately, but local species are a huge part of the balance in every habitat
