So much business goes lost because people don’t respond quickly enough - most are never exposed to this, and think it’s rhetoric or some overeager attitude but it’s just how things work in a decision-making/power of the pen context

I used to be super responsive and a super high performer. The ROI on my time wasn’t worth it. Now I tell people I’m super busy all the time, still get the same compensation and promotions, but I am way less stressed and get to spend more time with my family. Hustle culture is so not worth it

You are not wrong about your pattern observation but I would ask yourself to define success to yourself. I say that as retired consultant whom has shared a similar path and now seeing the world with a different perspective.

So true. We had a rule at Bank of Boston training program called the sunshine rule. You better respond by one day. Or you are out. It was expected to respond asap.

Yeah when you’re busy you respond ASAP cause you know if you don’t you’re never getting to it again because your focus will shift to other things.

I tell my HS students, all the time, that if a teacher, college, or job interviewer reaches out to them and they take over 24 hours to respond it does not look good and you may have missed an opportunity.
