I’ve seen articles within the past few years of people being charged with way more serious charges when hitting pedestrians and causing less serious (but not minor) injuries in MKE.

I was hit head on by a drunk driver, going 80 miles an hour in December. She was not arrested for three months because it was under investigation. In the meantime I was in the hospital for 20 days had five surgeries and she’s probably gonna walk away with a year of arrest and five of probationwhile I hope that I’ll be able to live and active lifestyle. Our system is broken.

Praying for these girls. I was struck by a car 4 months ago, several fractures and an extremely broken leg. My situation isn’t close to what these girls are going through. I hope justice is served. The driver is 100% at fault and should be held accountable for this. These drivers get to go on living their lives while the people who got hurt have to live with this forever.

I work in the niche field of criminal car crashes - most people think their state has a negligent homicide/negligent battery law, but the vast majority of states don't. That's why when someone does serious damage without intending to or being impaired, they get a slap on the wrist. Families like this one need to get to the legislature to change the laws!!!
