Why Cambodia had to attack first while Cambodia tried to resolve this through the ICJ but not Thailand? based on past rulings that already confirmed its sovereignty over temple areas. Thailand refused, rejected the legal process, and instead moved troops and barbed wire into disputed land. That’s not “defence” that’s provocation. On July 24, both sides claim the other shot first, but when one side avoids court and escalates militarily, it’s clear who’s undermining peace. Cambodia acted in self-defense.
