Had a game where my friend's character died right at the beginning. At the very end of the campaign one of the players used Divine Intervention to bring him back, DM gave him advantage. First roll failed and second roll barely made it and it was the greatest ending to a campaign I've ever experienced.

I’ve had a chaotic troll of a backup character in my pocket for two campaigns. They are designed specifically as punishment (in a fun way) for the DM and the party for letting my serious character die. I haven’t had to use them yet but honestly It will be the silver lining when I do.
