This is super common in New York y’all. Orthodox Jewish people can’t use electricity on Shabbat. I feel like most of my friends in nyc have a story like this. Not dangerous.

I lived in New York for 20 years. I lived in Flushing, which is a Jewish area. I was asked this all the time never had a problem with it.
