I have adhd, and definitely this happens to me with coffee. However, the same doesn't apply when I have an energy drink, weirdly enough.

If I’m already alert, coffee makes me even more alert. But when I’m tired, coffee actually makes me feel sleepy, always.

Absolutely!! I've been that way as far back as I can remember. I managed obtaining a PhD in statistics without the benefit of caffeine, while my cohorts were consuming gallons. Sudafed was my single go-to for alertness. 😞

In Colombia we are given coffee since we’re babies (yes even in a baby bottle) and coffee doesn’t make me sleepy but it just doesn’t do anything for me

I don't drink coffee, however I do drink a lot of diet Coke from the moment I get up to the moment I go to bed and it's not the caffeine-free diet Coke. it does not make me tired and I have no problem sleeping.
