I build exhaust for a living. The x into y 100% changes the sound especially on an older pushrod engine. I’ve done a couple on ls swapped cars and it sounds way more like an overhead cam v8 then a truck lq

I think this is super cool, my only comment would be on the pipe sizing stepping up. It’s common to step down because flow after the muffler doesn’t matter much, stepping up like that most likely has no gain and only worse fitment opportunities

The axel back strategy is honestly the lesst important part of an exhausts performance for a car. Once you have your scavenging in place the only real demand is that the right amount of exit volume is maintained. Depending on the size of engine and length of exhaust a well place convergence actually adds more scavenging effect, increasing powertrain performance. Only caveat? The pitch of the exhaust will be higher than if through two exits.
