Can’t speak for all booktok, but yeah you’d have initiate. If I set my book down, or look up from reading that’s probably your sign. 😂Just say hi, start a normal conversation preferably about books. Maybe don’t start with “can I tie you up?”, although that should probably come up at some point. Personally not covered in tattoos but I have a lot.

I can’t speak for other booktok girls, but I know the ones I know all tend to be significantly inked , myself included 😂😂😂 so yeah the booktok girls, especially the dark romance girlies, are a unique breed 😁😁😁 and we’re not difficult to approach… just ask things like… “that’s on my to be read list. Is it any good?”… or … “ oh, you read that genre too? I just finished X book, have you read it yet” … anything you say that indicates that you’re not gonna judge us for what we’re reading, and indicates that you also read so you understand book nerds, is going to be a positive approach. Many a coffee and book discussion date has been born of simple approach..

Ask her if it's a good one! If it's not, what's a good book she's read recently? The first question may not start much of a conversation if it's one that she's just trying to get through, but the second question will allow her to talk about something she's passionate about, which is always a plus. Showing genuine interest in what makes her tick will work in your favor 😊 And tattoos... definitely varies. I have 5, nowhere close to "mostly covered" 😂

Become familiar with some of the popular books on booktok, but make sure it’s specific to the kind of reader you’re looking for. I exclusively read dark romance, so a conversation about ACOTAR or any light romance would be lost on me. Ask if we have recommendations if you catch one of us in a book aisle. Follow up asking why we enjoy it and if we’d like to chat about it more over coffee. ☺️

If you don’t know what to say to a booktok girl in the wild, I don’t know that you’re ready for her. This question tells me that you’re not actually a booktok guy - you’re just fronting and using it as a hook. This will not bode well for you as once the booktok girl realizes that you’re not really a booktok guy she will move on. 🤓
