@mtn.alice: Permission to still love a place that took my friend without feeling guilty. Permission to be happy even though my friend is gone without feeling guilty. This video is short but captures the feelings that I've been grappling with this summer. Grief is such a complex experience.
I recognized that cry instantly, it felt so familiar. Grief has to be the most intense/complex human experience ever, right? I resonate so strongly with the place/person/sadness confluence.

My boyfriend was killed in an avalanche, we spread his ashes in the mountains where he was taken from us. I had never been there before but fell madly in love with the mountains, I understood why he loved it so much, but it was so heartbreaking to be in the same spot where he left the world. Grief is so complex.. proud of you for being out there anyway! The love and loss are always intertwined!!

My grandfather died saving me from the rip current on the Jersey shore. I still love that beach, and I still go in his memory 🩷

As a child my dad died in a climbing accident on Mount Rainier. As an adult there’s nowhere else I’d rather get to grieve him. 🫶🏼 it’s my favorite place in the world

This gave me chills… Grant used to give all the ladies flowers in the EDR when he worked grounds in St Mary. I still have one of the flowers pressed in my trail journal. 🥺❤️🩹 thank you for posting this and letting his memory live on. ❤️

My friend fell from Angel’s Landing a few years ago and this past fall I was able to finally hike it and to say it was a rollercoaster of emotions would be an understatement. 🖤

Nature lovers know that the love of the outdoors exists in the beauty and the danger. What a beautiful tragedy that he was taken in such a place. And what an inconsolable honor it is to have a place so breathtaking and so heartbreaking.

It has taken me almost a year to get back to ground zero of Helene in my home state. I cried so much on the drive, more so when we missed our turn bc nothing looks the same. You got this 😭

I’m so sorry. We were in the park last summer when they were looking for him. I hope you can still find the peace of nature out there and in his memory.

I am terribly sorry that you lost a loved one... It is beyond clear how much he is loved. I also appreciate seeing someone else deal with grief like this because I too feel like this and it's so so fucking hard... Thank you for sharing this moment with us. 💙

My father in law recently died after a bicycle accident. I love cycling and felt scared and guilty riding at first. But I’m at peace when I ride and I dedicate my rides to him.

My dad had a hiking accident that took his life on the North Sister in Oregon. I feel this so much. Somehow hiking out there brings me comfort? We’ve always said he couldn’t have ended up with a better tombstone.

I’m so sorry. Grant was an incredible person. I know it was a year ago today they found him, it’s also my 30th birthday today. What a reason to appreciate life and live on. What a sorrowful day, yet another reason to be so grateful. Sending you love sister. ❤️
