It also caused me to learn to just not go to the doctor or hospital if I need to because I have absolutely no sense of when I’m “sick enough”

Yes I was raised with that restriction but also continue it mostly with my kids. If they have a fever *I* keep them home but if they just “don’t feel good” they don’t get to do anything fun. I don’t want to incentivize them to want to stay home.

My dad ugh 😩 why are you watching TV then? Because I’ve slept from 7pm last night until I had to puke my guts up and now I can’t sleep because adrenaline and I feel worse but thanks dad jeez I never say this to the kids only time I do is when they are running round being loud! Like I’m sorry you should be resting if you are sick lol 😂 I get the “no mum we rested now we can play a little”…..how do I argue with that logic? Hahaha 🤣

My kids knew they had to stay in bed if they were home sick. They had books and I made them tea & special foods. They got pampered to help them feel better. But yeah, they weren’t gonna be playing pc/console games all day. If you can jump around screaming at Mario you can go to school. They have no issues taking time when needed now that they are adults, they also don’t call off for every little thing. It’s a good balance.

I do it now "if youre too sick for school you need to be in your room at the least to keep from adding it to the rest of the household" with games and toys allowed because they need some stimulation just as we do when were sick.

I remember feeling SO GUILTY when I felt sick in the mornings but felt better in the afternoons (shockingly I had POTS symptoms even back then) and would avoid my bus route if I was outside so I wouldn't get "caught" by my peers or bus driver. I was convinced they'd relay it back to my school or something.

“You better be in the floor ☠️” so because the pain didn’t Have me in the floor I went to School suffering immensely with my appendix attempting to burst. I made it to lunch before a teacher heard me throwing up and they forced me to call my dad. Then didn’t get to the hospital until 6pm. They barely got it out in time.

I was “allowed” to watch TV on sick days because if I was sick enough to stay home, all I did was lay on the couch and rest. And most of the time I was sleeping on and off.

I woke up with a swollen uvula, completely unable to breathe. I went to Urgent Care, and then still went into work the same day because I deemed I didn’t feel bad enough to stay home. Gf also went to work knowing she had a 102 fever. Same problem

I did have that but I also ended up with a vendetta where I'll do it as much as possible but I also literally never can take sick days because if I do then rent doesn't get paid so even if I can barely breath and am dizzy as hell still gotta go to work

No, thankfully. But I once had a coworker who saw me make a Snapchat on a sick day and she told me it gave the perception that I wasn’t sick enough to have the day off and until your video, I could not figure out her issue… I’m guessing her parents did this to her 🤯
