My ex and I lived with his best friend while we got on our feet. I'm working. He's making every excuse to not work (doesn't want to miss daughter's first day of school, wants to be able to pick her up and drop her off at school, etc). She wasn't even a year old at this point. I told him I want a place of our own where we can have private space, our names on the bills, somewhere for us to call home. All the normal things. His solution: convince his best friend to give us the only bedroom in that apartment. The best friend would be sleeping on the futon in the living room. His best friend was working 40 hours a week and ON DIALYSIS 3 times a week. I left shortly after and slept on the floor of my best friend's apartment. Now, I'm with a wonderful man who refuses to let me sleep on the floor no matter what. We split the bills. We have our own private space. My life is soooo much better now.

If I had something I wanted to do at a particular time, my ex would say that was the only time he had available to hang out. Eventually I stopped falling for it & he would “make changes” to his schedule for me

You need to hangout with friends more. Gets mad when I hangout with friends. Doesn’t hangout with friends. Why don’t you see your friends? Invites friends over. Gets mad and pouts in his office and doesn’t interact with my friends. 😑

His gas gauge needle broke. He would purposely run out of gas when he knew I was around my friends so I would have to leave them to come help him. And it would never be a simple task. I’d be so exhausted, I would just go home.

Both of our cars were down. He got mine fixed bc it was cheaper and expected me to put everything down so I could pick him up from and drop him off to work everyday. We didn’t live together.
