#lizzieyoung OUUUU NOW I KNOW YALL SURPRISED!! yap warning!!! 🌝 so no! nothing has changed, my opinions on Lizzie’s character & the way she acts towards others will never change in the slightest. I actually don’t believe it SHOULD after reading R10. I ACTUALLY BELIEVE THEN MORE THAN EVER You should have the ability to admit that Elizabeth had completely turned into a bully towards all the people who constantly try to be by her side, because it is the truth, and the entire point. Lizzie went through horrible things, which changed her as a person for the worst. Yes, she is bipolar, and she has very serious and very real EXPLANATIONS behind why she acts the way she acts. They aren’t justifications though 🌝 They don’t make what she says or does OKAY. & a lot of people act like they understand that, but as soon as you MENTION how Lizzie is a MEAN GIRL, they NEED to talk about all her trauma. EVERYONE knows like I promise you😭 & I really don’t think her trauma absolves her from being called a bully or a mean girl. The book explicitly says it multiple times, EVERYONE IN THAT FRIEND GROUP HAS TRAUMA but she is the ONLY one who puts that on others. I saw a line Shannon said as I was rereading; “Please don’t vilify her for not having healthy ways to cope with her trauma.” & Katie says “Shannon, we all have trauma. Not everyone projects it onto other people.” And I completely agree with BOTH statements! Because, no I don’t think Lizzie is the devil BECAUSE she doesn’t have the chance to get better, & quite literally sits on her issues without time passing by or anything changing for her. A lot of other characters in the group are also still dealing with their trauma. Nobody is a bad person for being “stuck” on it, y’know? But again, it is a different thing for that to happen & for you to put it on everyone else. Pushing people around—it just doesn’t make it right. Yes, Lizzie went through some SHIT, her book was the most intense for me in terms of that. Honestly, it hit a lil close to home, and YET😭I am still able to admit she is MEAN. Whilst also! Having empathy! Because despite me saying she is a bully, I still feel bad that she went through any of it. As do a lot of other people who talk about this. I’ve said this before, but I feel like a lot of Lizzie’s fans feed into the whole “perfect victim” conversation. You don’t want people to admit she is a mean person because she went through some things. But as if… people who have trauma… can’t be bad? IT'S JUST WEIRD & it completely goes against what (at least what i believe) the books are trying to go for with Lizzie. Denying that she is a bully, almost erases all the things she went through that turned her into that type of person. It is important to her character, and will continue to be important as she gets better, because SHE will also be able to admit how mean she was. We literally see her break in that quote in this edit saying she can’t help how mean she is. It’s true, and it’s upsetting, and I feel bad, but nobody is a bad person for also putting other peoples feelings into consideration. She is a victim, and she has made her entire friend group victims of her trauma, too. The result of it at least? Is that too intense to say? It’s the best way I can think to explain it. She didn’t deserve to go through what she did, but her friends ALSO do not deserve to be pushed around. & THE FANDOM IS ALLOWED TO HAVE THEIR PERSONAL PREFERENCES 😊YALL TRY TO MAKE THESE BOOKS BLACK AND WHITE WHEN THEY ARE FAR FROM IT & YOU NEED TO CONSIDER ALL PERSPECTIVES !!! & You say you do when you don’t. It’s okay for you to love her, just as it is okay for others to dislike her. What isn’t okay, is denying what’s canon, erasing her character, OR using the things she went through for the sake of stan wars. OKAY IS ANYONE READING THIS??? i HAVE to stop writing essays omg.
