my mum died in February of complications of vascular dementia she never forgot who we were, but she was this fearful scared little woman with no confidence near the end when she was in her prime this angry Scottish mum with no fear 🥰

My grandfather just died. He had dementia and didn’t know who I was. When I asked him if he knew who I was he would give me a big smile and say “Of course. You’re my buddy.” It was enough.

it sucks. my granddad passed away recently and his health deteriorated fast. so for his last couple months I spent alot of my free time helping him, carry him up stairs etc because im in decent shape. he kept calling me muscles, which at first I thought was kinda cool. but it hit me that the last few weeks he never said my name. it sucks coming to that realization.

this had been my biggest fear with my dad. he had aggressive terminal brain cancer, died a month after diagnosis. he was really loosing his mind, seeing things. not remembering what happened moments before. but he never forgot his love for his kids. he was barely able to form sentences, but when asked who I am smiled, looked directly at me and said thats my daughter Kate. his final words were i love you, whispering it over and over again to us. I know not everyone gets that experience and so im very grateful we did.
