Sterile your glass jar if possible, put the jar in boiling water for a few minutes & then dry it

I had starter do that and it didn't matter what I did it would mold. I moved out of the shitty house we were renting for a short while and now I have a beautiful starter. I had a lady tell me if there's mold in the house it will get into everything. we live in a nice place and no mold. check for mold in your house it might be the problem

I was told if you get mold in your starter you have hidden mold in your house! same thing happened to me and I had a leak in my shower causing mold
