@gemsonvhs: Here is a clip of Finbar Furey performing his tune “The Lonesome Boatman” in Glasgow, Scotland in 2010. The Lonesome Boatman is an instrumental piece written by Furey in the 1960s, when he was just 19 years old. It was first recorded in 1969 on the album of the same name, and the piece quickly became a standout in Irish traditional music. The tune has since become iconic, appreciated by generations of folk musicians and whistle players, and more particularly, fans of Celtic FC in Scotland, who occasionally chant the melody at matches. More recently, the Dropkick Murphys released their own interpretation of the tune in 2017. Finbar Furey was born in Dublin in 1946. He’s a master of several traditional instruments, including the uilleann pipes, banjo, and low whistle. He originally rose to fame in the 1970s as a founding member of The Fureys, performing with his brothers when he achieved his initial success. Later, Furey chose to leave the band, pursuing his solo career where he blended traditional and contemporary musical styles. Fun fact, he also appears in Martin Scorsese’s 2002 film “Gangs of New York” - Nick @ Gems
