please check your phosphate levels ASAP! hypophosphatemia is a very common side effect of iron infusion. I had it, it feels worse then being anemic. it is also life threatening when phosphate drops too low, you will need a urgent IV with phosphate

The “iron flu” can last a few days post infusion. Stay hydrated- electrolytes and coconut water.

I am on day 3 post 1st infusion and feel like a truck hit me. Fever, chills and my bones hurt like crazy. Just started beef liver supplements, dropped dairy, eating all the meat I want and leafy greens. Drinking 2-4 Pedilyte packs seems to help. Also take a really good multi vitamins like A1G. I drink 160-200 oz of water a day. Don’t be afraid to take some Motrin and Tylenol if your pain is too much. Hot showers and just lay around and be lazy. That’s how I am coping.

I did the same last week! Knocked me out for about four days. Felt like a flu without the cough or sore throat. Rest, fluids. Apparently iron infusion will deplete your phosphate levels, so add some yogurt or ice cream to your diet. And more rest. I’m two weeks from my infusion and am starting to feel better for the first time in forever.

Same happened to me the first time I had one. Was told to take Tylenol 1 hour before infusion. Have had 20 since then and have taken the Tylenol and have never had another issue since.

I take my iron supplements or had to start taking them and I feel like I have the flu it is horrible 😭😭😭😩😩😩😩

oh hun yep, it did this too me! I had the worst flu like symptoms... the most awful body aches. was 2 days after and lasted about 3/4 days. hope you feel better soon x
