touch the head while it's running and see if it's hot (140°f or more) That's enough steam coming out to make me concerned. Remember, just because it's peeing doesn't mean it's cooling. Some power packs won't let the ignition advance regardless of the mechanic linkage if it's too hot.

that coughing can only be caused by 2 things. It’s either too lean/too rich or the timing is off. Try checking with a timing light and actually tuning the carbs. Somebody could have messed with the settings to make it run while it was dirty. Go back to factory recommended settings on the mixture screws and tune from there. You are also going to want to sync the carbs.

A dt will never piss strong no matter what you do and I stand by that go all the way in on the mixture screws and 2 1/2 turns out she’ll be dialed
