1955 our site was built. Lead sheathed cable typically has an outer layer of lead and then cotton weapped rubber insulation . Your cable may be jacketed lead sheathed cable. We have HV PILC with potheads and there is no jacket

there are fuses on most xformers on the primary side, pad mounted typically use bayonet fuses, pole mounted use fuse links.

I see a lot of lead wrapped wire in old houses. the lead is usually just a wrap corrosion (so ive been told, I dont play with it unless I see both ends disconnected)

Back in 77 when I started in the electrical trade, there was an old neighborhood around us that had that lead shield cabling, and he told me it was like a weatherproofing of the wire back in the day to protect the wire from damage underground and weather

Do I never heard of that style cable in a residential setting, maybe for high voltage cable with a semiconductor beneath the outer jacket, but that must’ve been some old ass shit…wild story I’ll bet it scared the shit out of the both of you. Lucky it didn’t start a fire kid..
