🧣🇻🇺🌍 AFRICA CANNOT REPAIR ITS HISTORY WITHOUT REPAIRING ITS MIND. I was honoured to serve as one of the main guest speakers at the ||EMERGE US Humanity International Conference 2026|| The conference carried a powerful charge: #Making Africa Great Again: The Change Africa Needs Now.” The programme also featured the launch of the ||LPhD Global Leadership ||~Programme and a major global leadership initiative. My contribution went beyond the history of the slave trade. I spoke about what slavery left inside the African mind. Because slavery did not only take people. It disrupted dignity. It disrupted identity. It disrupted confidence. It disrupted economic thinking. And some of the psychological consequences have continued to manifest across generations. 🧠 **Scarcity mindset.• 🧠 **Beggar mindset.• 🧠 **Inferiority complex.• 🧠 **Dependency mentality.• 🧠 **The internalized belief that somebody else must come and rescue us.• These are not merely economic problems. They are psychological problems.• And until we confront some of these internal structures, we can continue talking about development while reproducing the very mindsets that keep development difficult. During that period, Ghana's President also took the issue of reparations and the legacy of slavery to the international stage at the United Nations, calling for recognition of the historical injustice and reparations for the enslavement and colonization of Africans. One statement from the President captures an important truth: >“There are no human beings born as slaves.” A person was first a **human being• People were trafficked. People were sold. People were reduced to objects. People were stripped of their dignity and treated as property. That distinction matters. Because if we are going to pursue justice for what happened to our ancestors, we must also confront what the experience produced inside the descendants. Reparation cannot only be about what was taken from Africa. We must also ask: What happened to the African mind? What happened to our sense of worth? What happened to our confidence? What happened to our relationship with wealth? What happened to our understanding of power? What happened to our capacity to build? And perhaps one of the greatest questions of all: > How do we repair the mind of a people who were systematically taught that they were less than human? That conversation must continue. Because #Making Africa Great Again cannot only be a political slogan. It must become a psychological, intellectual, economic and human transformation. 🌍We must rebuild Africa from the inside out. — Apostle WILBERFORCE TA JEFFREYS **THEOPHILUS JEFFREYS #ImageAsHumanity #ImageAsHumanityInternationalConference #MakingAfricaGreatAgain
