VIRAL ONION BOIL
~120–180 calories per onion | 1–2 g P | 12–18 g C | 6–10 g F
Onions:
• 2 to 2.5 lb small or medium yellow onions
• 1/2 to 1 teaspoon butter for each onion Spice Butter:
• 4 to 5 tbsp butter, melted
• 1 tsp Cajun seasoning
• 1 tsp sweet paprika
• 1/2 tsp dried parsley
• 1/2 tsp dried oregano
• 1/4 tsp cayenne
• 1/2 tsp garlic powder
• Pinch of chili flakes
• A couple pinches of salt
• Optional: drizzle of oil or 1 tbsp extra melted butter to thin out if needed
Prep the onions:
Preheat the oven to 400 F. Trim the onion ends, peel the outer layer, and cut out a small portion of the core at the top. Place the onions into an oven safe dish with a lid. If you do not have a lid, you will need to wrap the onions in foil later. Add the butter:
Place 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of butter into the cavity at the top of each onion. Make the spice butter:
In a bowl, melt 4 to 5 tbsp butter and mix with Cajun seasoning, sweet paprika, dried parsley, dried oregano, cayenne, garlic powder, chili flakes, and salt. Thin with a drizzle of oil or extra butter if too thick. Coat the onions:
Spoon about 1.5 teaspoons of the spice butter mixture over each onion. Bake:
Cover completely and bake for 60 to 70 minutes at 400 F. Larger onions may need a few extra minutes. Finish and serve:
Remove from the oven, spoon the drippings over the tops, add fresh parsley or chives, and enjoy. #EasyRecipe #healthyrecipes #Recipe #cozyrecipes
