Minor correction: they will treat you even if you can’t pay. You’ll get a bill and that bill will go to collections and you’ll be harassed for years until you pay it.

I’m in the U.S. and I don’t even have health insurance because I can’t afford it I haven’t seen a doctor in a long time. If I get sick, I just suffer and hope that it doesn’t get worse because I’d rather die in the street than put myself in any more medical debt than I already have. Please don’tet this happen to your country. It is literal hell on earth.

As an American I’m so serious when I say please Europeans, push back on this. Do not let them defund your public health systems and privatize it all. For-profit healthcare systems are inhumane, it is literally better for their financial bottom line if patients avoid the doctor they can’t afford and simply die than it would be to expend the resources needed to treat or prevent problems. The prices for procedures, medicines, and care will never stop increasing because they know some people or insurance companies will pay whatever it takes, out of necessity, and medicine overall will get worse as less profitable facilities, treatments, and cures get abandoned for things that make more money and more people avoid basic preventative care because they can’t afford it, leading to worse health outcomes and more emergencies.😭

Correction. If you go to the hospital they will help you. The doctors/nurses have no idea your ability to pay unless you tell them, they will not care. Billing is very separate from actual care.

The problem is unchecked capitalism. Blatant slavery has been almost universally abolished, so billionaires are reverse engineering it by purchasing governments, changing policies to serve corporate profits rather than people, making all of us purchased subjects, property, allowed to live as long as we are exploitable. Infinite exponential corporate profits are unsustainable without mass casualties, and people have just accepted that an insurance company invented an equation to determine the “real value” of human life based entirely on their ability to be exploited. We outnumber them. We need to remind them, globally. Billionaires should not exist, they and their ideology are an ideological cancer that is rapidly metastasizing.
