They were called because somebody expressed a concern regarding someone recording people. Police are legally obligated to respond to every call that comes in. When they arrive on a scene of a crime, they’re supposed to identify the people in question and the people that initiated the call to come to a determination as to what is going on, exactly. Big mouth people like this do things of this nature to instigate a response in hopes that something will go pear-shaped. Be nice to the law-enforcement that stops, and the interaction will go fine
