I think it depends why you split up. If irreparable damage was done, or there was a fundamental difference that couldn’t be bridged, then it’s better to stay apart as it will never fully work. Nice dinners are lovely, but they can’t fix cracks in a relationship!

There are lots of men that like going to nice restaurants & the company of beautiful women. The main difficulty is that the vast majority of men cannot afford that lifestyle. As you get older to find a man that you can get on with and is also well established and isn't already in a relationship is very challenging. And compromising on the ideal is not something that will make you happy in the long run
