The Veterinarian industry should be government funded. So many people have animals, we need to get the industry funded!

I had a relative bring their sick dog to family Christmas for my veterinarian aunt to “just take a quick look” the audacity is insane.

In the U.K. most practices don’t offer payment plans due to not being authorised to ‘lend’ money by the financial conduct authority. It’s not because people don’t pay it back (although that would then be an issue if the practice did have an FCA licence to lend money.) It’s unlawful to offer payment plans without an FCA licence

I’ve spent £50k at my practice on my own animals and strays 🌝 that’s not including my pets referral practices which would probably be an additional £15k 😂😭

Tiktok happens to me wild. Because you've been a treating vet for a few of my animals and some of my fosters too. I just want to thank you and I appreciate the thankless job that you do. You've certainly made a huge difference in the welfare of my animals.

I went through this EVERY TIME someone knew I was a Vet nurse. To a point where I told mum not to tell people what I do for work. They ALWAYS try to free load off your back.

I hate how people drag vets through the mud. They have bills (rent, supplies, equipment, upkeep of equipment, utilities, student loans ect)

and the reality is you will do stuff outside of work. probably a lot too but it can't just be expected and the most important part for me was that it's your responsibility to pay for your pets medical needs. absolutely on you as an owner

I’m a vet nurse and have spent thousands of pounds at my practice on my own cats. Yes I get a small staff discount but nothing else for free! Both my cats are insured but both have exclusions and 20% copayment

100% this is great. the amount of random acquaintances that come out of the woodwork for 'free advice' really annoys me!

I work as a vet assistant and we only get free exams if they’re scheduled around the paying clients. We do get procedures like X-rays, bloodwork, dentals etc at a discount but it’s usually because it’s not during “regular hours” it’s between clients, on lunch hours, after the appointments are done etc. it’s the first clinic I’ve worked at that gives any kind of discount for workers too 👀

holy hell, as a vet nurse this resounds so much! I hate when (most) people ask me for advice, because they don't like my response of go see your vet. I'm not a vet, I can't diagnose, symptoms could mean a huge variety of issues from nothing to worry about to life threatening but I can't tell you what it is. I have a few friends who understand this and usually if they message, it's a case of 'hey I noticed this on someone's dog, I suggested they go see a vet, do you think it's urgent or can wait a few days?' sort of advice. the worst are people who want advice and say they can't afford a vet visit, I'm like what am I supposed to do with that info? 🤷🏻♀️stop making me feel guilty over something that isn't my fault or in my control.
