as someone going throigh college amd seeing how ai is used here. its good as a assistant not to solve all your issues it is like a brace it helps you walk but if you dont have the strength to do it youll fall

AI falls into the same trap of perception for people as I think many Europeans put AC into. Yes, AI and AC and and absolutely do use genuinely massive amounts of power. BUT, the environmental consequences of them are due to the *sources* of that power, something that needs to change for everything anyways. I have a lot of gripes with AI, but to claim that AI itself is uniquely devastating to the environment is to overlook every quarry, logging camp, and monolithic parking lot desert that has also been built in the same time. It's multifaceted, and it's certainly got problems, but that doesn't mean the concept itself is just supposed to be written off for that.
