@mdvmitarashi: Here is the summer update of all the things that Japan will be changing that will impact tourism. ⭐️ July 2025 —Dual pricing changes across many businesses in Japan announced: ↳ Hiking Mt. Fuji, has increased now ¥4k which is double what is was. It will remain ¥1K for residents of Japan. ↳ Some Temples and Shrines; to include Fushimi Inari ↳ Junglia Okinawa, a jungle-themed amusement park that just recently opened, has adopted a similar pricing model. Tourists will pay 8,800 yen ⭐️ November 1, 2026 ↳ The tax-free shopping system for visitors to Japan will be revised and changed to a refund-based system. ⭐️ Unknown implementation with: ↳ Japan has outlined plans which will require all incoming tourists to have private health insurance. The move aims to curb a growing problem: foreign visitors receiving medical treatment and leaving the country without paying. #japan #japantravel #japantourism #japantrip #japancost
Everyone blaming Americans in the comments but Americans hardly leave the states and are the least likely to be in Japan and every time I see a disrespectful video in Japan it’s never Americans just people commenting “I bet they’re american”

The tax refund is going to be so annoying. The reason why it was convenient was because they can only refund you in cash and you could use that cash while in Japan. They don’t have every currency at the airport so I wonder how they will do

So if you were born in Japan but appear foreign, do you also get hit with the tourist prices? Just wondering how that works. Will they start asking for your ID for every purchase?

controversial opinion maybe, but if you're traveling to another country, you should be paying taxes on the goods you buy.

i will NEVER mind a dual pricing system. i just came back from japan and the people who live there should be able to afford to do stuff as well. im from NYC where most attractions can be discounted for residents & i think that system is beautiful

Dual pricing at a theme park should mean that the tourists all get express passes for free then!

I have a question. How does it work if I’m half Japanese? How would they know I’m a foreigner visiting? I speak fluent Japanese so they wouldn’t be able to tell unless they ask for identification?

It's normal that residents pay less to visit places in their country, that are part of their culture, or adopted culture. I applaud this, even though I would have to pay more if I ever get to visit Japan.
