All of these hotels are doing this and it didn’t used to be a thing to charge $25-$100 incidental PER NIGHT. And it is a big deal for people to have those funds withheld while on a trip because of actual incidentals like flat tires, emergencies, etc.

The hotel is not responsible for third parties information. if the third party is paying a portion as a promotion, or if they simply have incorrect info, that's not on the hotel

Booking through a third-party is one of the biggest mistakes you can ever make. You have no recourse if there's something wrong with the room or if you made a mistake with your booking. I have made this error once in my life and never need to repeat it.
