I’m currently in the UK on a Skilled Worker visa. Due to a serious medical condition, I may need to take up to 2 years of maternity leave. I’d be grateful if you could clarify: Will this extended leave affect my eligibility for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) after completing 5 years on the Skilled Worker route? Specifically, would I need to extend my visa beyond 5 years and stay for a total of 7 years due to the long maternity leave, or does properly documented maternity leave (even if medically extended) still count toward continuous lawful residence?
