In Japan, tap water is drinkable at most places. so kids drink water from tap at school as well. Japanese grown up as so. and be because it's more close to Mt. Fuji, the water is more fresh.

Also Japanese water is soft. When I washed my face in Europe, my eyes turned red🤣That's so painful. but Scottish water tastes good
