The same regurgitated dealer group nonsense that’s been spoken for 15 years. Facts are tech pay is down overall. With more responsibilities. Your CSI scores are down bc you lost all of your tenured technicians with required video inspections, plummeting book times and convoluted warranty approval processes. Stop pointing fingers elsewhere.

easy fix, pay salary or hourly and the techs will do anything you want them to. The loss of productivity because of video inspections will be on the dealerships head at that time.

The industry will need to start paying for these drawn out DVIs. From what I've experienced, the ROI on them is horribly inconsistent and not worth it.

How about the advisors come out and do the digital walk arounds. Do the warranty stories. Look up op codes. So the techs can get back to fixing cars and not messing with pictures. 😅

If we gonna do videos we might as well get advisor pay too. We didn’t get into wrenching to talk to customers or have customer interaction

Maybe if they actually paid techs commission on gross profit then it would be a different conversation. Only get paid for the flat rate hours and those keep getting adjusted down with more and more requirements

Sounds like the tech is now doing even more for free than ever…. Getting p&a’s writing estimates, writing customer stories, looking up labor times… all used to be the writers job… now add those plus videos to a techs job for free? Cant find good techs? Hmmm idk why🙄

At this rate, just replace the advisor with a kiosk and distribute the savings of not have an advisor to the techs pay. Or, if the business is so confident in video inspections, pay the technician for the time spent doing video inspections.
