i LOVE that this version of ben is just tired of saying it and refuses to say it bc he doesn’t wanna be viewed as a circus act, but the SECOND a child asks him to say it he will do it 10 out of 10 times bc he’d do anything to put a smile on a kids face

Yeah no, I actually really enjoyed that they kept the character catchphrases as merchandising. I feel like that’s a really cool way tying in with “I don’t say that it’s just in the show” it feels very real and relatable to how current society can get similarly parasocial with celebrities

It’s insane how like you guys are nitpicking this but Superman yall blew over the nitpicks so quickly yet these are enough to make you upset? Makes 0 sense to me. I get you guys want Superman to do good so bad but don’t get mad that fantastic four might be better story telling than Superman.

I think it’s because the thing is quietly insecure about himself. He masks himself by being super kind. They show it when he was visiting his home town and saw the TV about what he used to look like. I think the whole idea of him not saying it’s clobbering time because he still is insecure about himself being a rock monster. He wants to be human and is ashamed of himself quietly. I think him not saying gives him a lot of character. However I do think Johnny Storm should be saying flame on considering his character is not a ladies man stale character but a dynamic one who is often using his powers.

I’d like if in some sort of intense battle with the FF like doomsday or something Johnny looks at Ben like 😏 and Ben is like 😒😕🤨😎 and then yells “ITS CLOBBERIN TIME” while punching doom in the face or something awesome like that

I actually liked that it wasn’t his catchphrase but something that the cartoon popularised and he didn’t like it but kept being pestered to say it by kids and Johnny…The fact he does end up using it at the end was just a pop moment.

The issue is that they make it a running gag. There’s no problem with other heroes poking fun at the catchphrase; but they do what I call “The Three-Scene Milk”; where a joke is established, mentioned again, and then finalized. And it’s never a good joke either

Here’s what I think with bans character as a whole I think they were meant to spend more time with him meant to spend more on that longing to be what he used to longing to be his human body wishing he was normal and just out of this contraction essentially but either due to time constraints or due to it not really fitting with their greater narrative. I think they cut that or even just wrote it out of the script that’s what I think at least. because we get this one shot of him looking at himself in the TV of a storefront and it’s meant to be very like almost sad like apologetic, but we don’t get see that other than him feeling anxious to talk to the teacher

makes sense ben is literally seen as a circus animal. He’s told to lift up cars. Yes he enjoys showing off for the kids however he’s not seen as a normal person like he would like so everyone asking him not liking to say it’s clobbering time makes sense.
