And the sad part is —it’s funny because it’s true. The NRLCA President, and higher ups like that are making over $100 thousand a year, and people like me who are rural mail carriers, I work 5 and 6 days a week, and my annual gross is $55,000 but my actual net is $37,000 a year. They give us a 1.3%, 1.4%, and 1.5% raise which only adds $65.00 onto each paycheck—maybe $85.00 if we’re lucky, we get these raises in September or November—then they raise insurance costs and other deduction costs at the beginning of the new year, so the raise we’ve only enjoyed for barely 4 months is gone, because after deductions go up, we only have $25.00 or $35.00 more on every paycheck. It’s a complete joke and a disgrace. I pay my mortgage payment which is 1 thousand dollars and 16 cents every month, then I only have 176 dollars left of my paycheck. I’m poorer now working at a government job compared to how much money I made working basic retail at various places for over 9 years—prior to joining the post office. The powers that be need to come in force the post office to raise our annual salary to whatever would give us a take home net annual salary of $57 thousand. They also need to let regular carriers only work Monday through Friday—unless they put themselves on the list to work weekends. Alternate subs to work weekends so they can get every other weekend off. They work us like slaves and we literally have nothing. As a mail carrier of 5 years, I can’t even afford to buy 7 items at dollar store without cutting into gas and food money. We need a president who will executive order the post office and congress to give us better economic/financial conditions. Oh yeah, and I have a boat load of damning information about Amazon—that’s for a different time.
