@sophie.e.smithh: Replying to @ଘ(੭ˊᵕˋ)੭* ੈ✩‧˚🎻🦢 no! here’s a full explanation of how college admissions works from the backend & why you need to know it to get accepted. lets keep exposing these secrets that have been gatekept for the elite!!! #collegeadmissions #gettingintocollege101 #collegeapps #collegecounseling #demonstratedinterest
Demonstrated interest can also be: visiting campus on a tour, virtual info sessions, signing up for emails and mail to your house, click links in said emails, sign up for optional interviews if offered, etc. most schools track all of this!

You’re totally right. I did this in undergrad (also visited school multiple times, name dropped the admissions dean in my interview, etc.) and did just about everything possible to show my interest. I think it made a difference.

One big one that nobody talks about. You could be an excellent middle class student, if your parents cannot afford to write the check to a Duke or Tulane you will not get in. Money matters.

Okay- I know I will probably delete this in the morning because when I tell people this they always get upset and fight me in the comments but an admissions officer can like you, fight for you, and enjoy your emails- but no one is bigger than the institution

We’ve toured twice and attended a virtual session. In the survey we said the school was our top choice. Does that count as demonstrated interest?

Thanks for making this video. You’ve just inspired me to reach back out to a law school admissions director that informed me of rejection and recommended me for a law school fellowship prep program to get me on the path.

Isn’t this why schools accept more and more students through Early Decision? They have a guaranteed applicant so they’re protect their yield AND you are committing without even knowing if you will get any financial package so they are getting the $$.

What was so great about this was the way you broke it down logically! My daughter didn’t get into her dream boarding school but they had no idea it was her top pick because she didn’t do any things that showed them demonstrated interest. I had talked to her about it, but most teenagers aren’t going to believe their moms. This was such an AWESOME way to break this down and make it make sense.

I found this incredibly helpful as my son will be entering eighth grade this year and it’s something we’re definitely thinking about on how to help him prepare. I would love to know more about what type of questions/emails you’re sending? Thank you so much!

I was an AC for a masters program which is a little different.. but the amount of excellent, seemingly perfect, applicants get denied bc their essay said “and that’s why I’d love to go to XYZ” when xyz WAS NOT US!! Do. Not. Use. The. Same. Essay. Everywhere! PROOFREAD FFS!
