I bought a 'nikko blue' - put it in ericaceous soil, even treated it with blue hydrangea food...its flowers are purple 🥺 i was really looking forward to blue - can i change it this year now?

Do you have to mix the ericaceous soil in with the current soil or do you simple place on top around the Base and it'll work it's way down eventually?

My purple/blue ones have faded 😞 so I added coffee grounds n the pink ones faded too! 😩

This is so helpful! I’ve bought a really dark red/burgundy hydrangea, would I need to keep the soil alkaline to keep that colour? 🤔
