First mistake - it’s not the kids’ fault. It’s systemic. Federal/state government, DOE, and the parents all play a part. A student who shows up to school with “not caring” doesn’t just surface. It’s a combined effort of all these systems.

the taco bell I work at doesn't hire as many high school kids anymore because they can't read. it's insane. we used to get kids whose first and only language is English and they don't know the difference between Micheal, Michelle, and Mitchell.

It’s the school too. My friend is a teacher and he said AI makes all of lesson plans. These kids are on computers and tablets at school too. They have no idea how to write with a pencil anymore let alone cursive.

We need to bring back the reading point system and get rid of “no child left behind”. This has been an issue for a while now and we are slowly getting rid of programs that help the kids.

It's not the parents it's the system. almost 80% of households have both parents working. Parents come gome from work and have to cook, clean, do chores. No one spends time with kids and teachers babysit them in school because they have behavioral and learning issues as they dont recieve care or attention. If things were more affordable one parent could stay home.

Absolutely. Their lazy parents have raised their children on nothing but cellphones and tablets and I knew this was inevitable because they don’t want listen to anyone but the cell phone and the tablet. The parents need to stop being lazy and be parents for once 🙄

Kids need to be failed. We allow them to pass because it feels so bad to fail a kid. But if you can’t do long division you can’t pass the xth grade (I forget which grade exactly you learn that lol)

exactly by the time I got out of school they basically let every kid go to the next grade when really 75-80%didnt know jack.

Kids nowadays have no filter to what the world really is. They know they are being raised to get a job. When I was a kid I was practically groomed into going to college and I regret every second of it. I would rather have my feet licked by goats then finish my last semester. I’m not saying not knowing how to read is good it’s not good. But we need to see a whole picture. Respectful opinion here.

They dont need less technology they need more. The should be taught to use it at a higher level and if they lack those skills teach them because theyd be deadly if they knew how much more they could do.
