That’s correct. If you park your car in front of the designated lanes in P mode, they will announce on a speaker via the information centre and ask you to immediately go back and move your car if other cars can’t get out of their spots. Plus people will keep swearing at you.

There’s a saying in Thai: ‘Thai people trust each other too much’ (คนไทยไว้ใจกันเกิน), because we believe others wouldn’t have any intention to damage or steal our belongings. That’s why you often see people parking in neutral, leaving helmets on motorcycles, or leaving their phones on the table while they’re not present. 🥰🥰🥰

I lived in Bangkok for 2 months and cried when I left. I hate the western individualism. Thai culture is community based unlike the US which is individualistic everyone for themselves culture.

Enjoy the weirdness, there are a lot more. 😊 We are responsible when we push other's car. if you put the car on park, you will get some kind of punishment either being not so nice words on the paper stick to your window or the announcer in the mall will look for you to move the car., very hassle. so it's manner in Bangkok to put your car on neutral as consideration to others who would like to use the space nearby.
