Yeah I strongly disagree as well , if there’s one thing I wish someone would’ve told me was network engineer DOESNT mean the same thing to every company. I troubleshoot ospf everyday

GLOBAL OUTLAW :
So if ur saying don’t get ccna cert to get into the field because most of the knowledge ur not gonna use at all so what cert do u get then?? Because requireters are gonna want to see some certs for beginners at least

This is why I had decided to get an associates degree instead of chasing certs. Now im back for my bachelor’s in cybersecurity and a full time job as networking specialist.

CCNA for one is a strange one. Many who pass have just memorized cisco marketing, and many who don’t are way better engineers. But, having that on your resume can open doors. In the early 2010s, Cisco actually advocated using test dumps just pass the certs and secure a job if you started there as an intern.

But my certs in cisco Palo Alto and fortinet really did help with my day to day job coz of their amazing labs!

but still, the majority of companies still look for candidates who have a ccna or ccnp cert, it may not be a requirement, but still, it is a plus

agree I've been a network engineer for one of the biggest networks in our country and I don't have CCNA. learn the basics and try to get into the industry and you will pickup what you need along the way. But until you get a job keep learning like building multilevel networks in simulation software etc. Main thing is when you go for an interview don't lie about your skill as you will be thrown into the deepend.
