No,you do not need a reason to stop an id. It’s a law to have identification on your person as the state is stop and id state. Though civil more than criminal, done produce id, wear a pair of shiny black bracelets

SL :
Several U.S. states have "stop and identify" laws, which allow police to request identification from individuals they reasonably suspect of criminal activity. These states include Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri (in Kansas City only), Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York, North Dakota, Ohio, Rhode Island, Utah, Vermont, and Wisconsin. In some states, like Florida, this authority is tied to specific circumstances like traffic stops. ……. Reasonable Suspicion: Theses Stop and I D laws typically require that police to have a “reasonable suspicion, meaning they must have specific, articulable facts that lead them to believe a crime has been, is being, or is about to be committed.” This is not a Blanket Requirement: It's important to note that these laws “do not mean you must show ID to any police officer who asks” even in "stop and identify" states. Reasonable articulable suspicion is a key factor.
