This is the main reason I say all cops need a masters degree in law and constitutional law in order to wear that badge and before anyone says that they need a pay raise then does that mean teachers need a pay raise cause they need a masters to teach.

The only time you need to give id is if you are driving a motor vehicle because by law you need a license to drive and they can legally ticket you for failure to provide a license. Otherwise they need to articulate reasonable suspicion of a crime to ask you to identify yourself and when you ask “am I free to go” they have to give you a yes or no answer. If you are not suspected of a crime they have no right to hold you and if they do suspect you of a crime they legally have to tell you what they suspect you of.

when they ask are u refusing to identify yourself u should respond with are u refusing to give me reasonable articulable suspicion of a crime for this detention? cause if they are not saying you're free to go u are detained. then repeat everytime they ask for ID. just a thought I had.
