She joined the radio channel Voice of Vietnam as an announcer in 1955. Ten years later, when the first U.S. combat troops entered Vietnam she was assigned to do a radio bulletin directed at the American soldiers three times a day. In the broadcasts Hannah would list the names of American troops killed in combat, read US newspaper articles about anti-war protests and play Joan Baez and Bob Dylan songs.
