@mouseabolition: Replying to @Sugarb1rd to be clear i don’t clap when the plane lands, i simply thank every worker involved in the process of my flight but i digress. #kennarambles #superman2025
Imagine being so jaded that flying through the sky is lame. Folks hate whimsy

this is really only tangentially related but superman is the first movie in a while where my theater clapped after the movie was done and idk!! it’s nice to see people appreciating the work put into something!!!

I’ve never understood “don’t clap it’s their job”. I’m a performer; people clap every time I do my job! It’s not weird to appreciate someone doing their job

This is irrelevant to the video, but I'm a big fan of "however comma". Solid verbiage.

The most recent flight I was on was that pilot’s very last flight before he retired. We all clapped when we landed :)

I see clapping when a plane lands the same as thinking your bus driver. is just something you do.

In a world where people are again reverting to dogma, stigma, and hatred over respect for fellow people. “Hey guys be nice/not racist to people please” is once more a counter-cultural statement (on a general average person that goes to work and goes home way) or something.

the simplicity of “maybe kindness is the real punk rock” in a world that has become so chaotic is actually so important to me and that is something I will always love about Superman

This may just be because you brought up airplane safety, but I'm thinking about it now and I think that Superman and The Rehearsal S2 when you boil them down, are kind of about the same thing. Superman wants us to be kind to each other and act in defense of others, while The Rehearsal wants us to have the courage to speak up and to listen to other people, but they both are trying to promote caring about other people and their perspectives.

I generally don't clap when the plane lands but I do thank everyone on my way out like those guys work hard & I'm not gonna shame people for cheering for them. especially if there's been some rough turbulence

Do I think it's weird and a little annoying that people clap when the plane lands? Yes. Am I aware that my annoyance is mostly cuz of the fact that flying is physically painful for me and the clapping is just an unwanted added sensory experience? Yes. Will I ever tell someone to not clap or get genuinely mad about it? Absolutely not.

The second time I saw Superman, the audience applauded at the end of the film. I haven't seen that since I was in film school.

there's something about clapping specifically that feels different than saying thank you to the bus driver for example, but it is mostly a *feeling* of...cringe ig? that should b questioned cause they are essentially very similar activities and I would never find thanking the bus driver cringe. maybe it's something about thanking directly, vs a group performance of thank?

i feel like on the opposite side of that is the ppl who think The Boys (which i did enjoy) & the depiction of Homelander is ‘revolutionary’ it’s maybe ? more realistic? but it’s far more interesting to me (& i know you’ve talked abt this) for Superman to generally ‘be good’ and want the best for everyone with his unlimited power

With the difference between the two keep going back to this: in both MOS and superman 2025 someone dies, and superman cries out in anguish. It's just that in one it's because he couldn't save them and in the other it's because he killed them himself.

maybe they’re clapping for the flight attendants who just dealt with all the entitled ass flyers for however long the flight was

Puerto Ricans clap when the plane lands. It’s absolutely mesmerizing because it isn’t like the usual clap and cheer, it’s loud and joyful

like the message of the movie being “kindness and empathy is really cool and you shouldn’t feel ashamed for being that” in a world where we are lacking so much of it is good !!! and if it encourages ppl to want to be better ppl, i fuck with it

To engage with this metaphor, you might clap for the plane landing safely if the last four plane rides you had ended up crashing into the ground.
