How?? Ok.... There clearly isn't signage well BEFORE the bridge. On the roads approaching. No point putting signage right before it when they're already on the approach. Something clearly isn't right if it's still being missed. I live pretty close to this, I'm going to have a look

he's just reversing under one & that has straps giving height of bridge. Either driver ignored strap banging against the lorry roof or the straps are too short.

Sat-nav’s for HGV’s have info about low bridges so I’m guessing he’s not using one

this puzzles me as an hgv driver for over 25yrs, why isn't it common sense to plan your route i do it every day even now and I own a proper hgv satnav that has all of the dimensions of my truck so it will NOT send me under any low bridges, weight restrictions or any route not suitable for hgv, spend a little money and keep your job instead of using Google maps on the phone

The bridge has a goal post structure on both sides but they’re significantly taller compared to the actual bridge. They’ve been missing their hanging height restriction barriers for the past 4 years which hang down lower via the chains on the goal post to indicate the actual height restriction of the bridge further ahead. The council have now wrapped the goal post neon yellow but still haven’t replaced the most important thing - the hanging height restriction barriers. Without these barriers this will continue to happen and it’s only a matter of time before another bus driver thinks “well I can fit under the big neon goal post so I’ll fit under the bridge”… crash noises

The problem is the signs for high restrictions are usually less than 100 yards before the bridge leaving no time or space to turn the Lorry around. The signs in the UK are horrific the HGVs.

I have no respect for HGV drivers that Don't use Professional Truck SatNavs. They ONLY route you down roads appropriate for your vehicles hight, Length, Width, weight & Cargo. A lot of foreign agencie drivers just use Google maps.
