My taxes should pay for public education, NOT for individual students education. Education should be free for every student and schools should be publicly funded, not the students.

he's deliberately keeping education from lower income students, and the rich continue to profit off it. god, I'm scared of what's gonna be left when I go into education

Indiana gives HALF A BILLION dollars to non-public schools. It’s tragic. And so is this.

The “start” is important too. A good number of those kids will be back in public by Thanksgiving & the new year. After the private schools have their money but can’t/won’t serve them anymore.

Yup. Indiana has had a voucher program for years. I work at a private school (they don’t have the age I teach in public school here). Some of our families would not be able to attend without the vouchers. However, I don’t agree with the increase in income cap, especially when there is a national childcare crisis and they cut CCDF.

Florida is going into its third year with vouchers. I’m a Catholic school teacher and the vouchers are watering down things for us as well. I teach there because I value my religion but many families are now treating us as an alternative to public schools instead of looking for faith based education. It’s not fair to both sides when we have students and families who do not respect our faith.

while there may be voucher scams the idea of vouchers helps decentralize and overcrowded underfunded system and teachers should be for them because we will never get the fair pay or conditions of employment in a public system based on property taxes when are our unions finally going to face this fact and quit fear-mongering over upgrading this failing system

There’s so much happening in Georgia. I was just laid off because AmeriCorps funding was cut and the district didn’t get their Title 4-A funding

So, those parents who can afford private schools get the benefits of tuition vouchers.

I’m a private school parent and I’m not ok with this at all!! Taxes should go to public schools and private schools really don’t have the resources to educate all these students being pulled out of public school.

The vouchers have gone mad here in AZ - no oversight on spending and we’re suffering in the public schools.

Bingo! School choice will mean the pricy privileged school gets to chose who gets in, not the parents! There won’t be public schools available once the Republicans privatize education like every gov’t agency. Only the smart white wealthy boys will have choices under PJ 2025.

Vouchers actually results in a financial windfall to public schools. They keep fed & local tax $ for kids they no longer serve. That's the scam part.

much like here in Indiana, tax payers now just pay for rich families to send their kids to private schools, that they were going to send their kids to anyway.

The voucher system is segregation all over. It is rich from poor and poc from white. Statistically, more white families will be able to afford the remaining tuition costs and extra fees. That is not to say no POC will be able to afford it, just that white families are more likely. So, now they've migrated as many little white kids as they can over to private schools and defunded the neighborhood schools that the poors attend, two birds one stone. It is foul! Voucher programs are a deliberate undermining of public education for the purpose of segregation and child labor. 🤢🤢🤢🤬🤬🤬🤬
