Yeah honestly all the Lie-max’s near me are actually pretty nice. Though, 70mm imax is just another level. Haven’t seen any movie with such clarity as Oppenheimer and Tenet then I did in 70mm

The 30 screens can project 70mm imax film giving you the full ratio. But there are digital imax screens with dual laser projection that can give you the full 1.43:1 ratio as well. So I wouldn’t necessarily call these liemax since the dual laser projectors can project the full image, it just doesn’t have 70mm film projection although the Bullock used to. I’ve been to the Bullock in Austin for F1, Superman, and Fantastic 4, and it’s soooo good, both picture and sound. And I was surprised to learn that it’s also the largest screen in Texas beating out the Dallas and San Antonio 70mm imax screens.

My problem is my AMC local theater’s lie-max has the worst seats.. not even ‘plush rockers’ but the standard flip down seats from 20 years ago… I’m not going to watch a 2+ hr epic and have my back hurt after

Honestly, if you don’t have a real IMAX theater next to you at least find out if the IMAX that you have is in 1:90 and has laser projection. Other than that, don’t waste your money.

the lie-max near me is awesome. dune part two and interstellar were life-altering experiences in that theater even if it wasn’t true imax, i’ll never take that theater for granted

If going to see a movie in imax, if it isn’t shot with imax cameras but with certified digital cameras then it’s basically liemax. If it’s shot with IMAX then it isn’t and presented in 1.43.1

Thank you for this! I literally had a ticket to what I thought was a real IMAX. Immediate refund. Found a real one with about the same travel time in the complete opposite direction.

We have a genuine IMAX in Tempe, AZ and I’m bummed how fast the Odyssey tickets sold out for opening week. I never even got to see Oppenheimer there because EVERY SHOWING was sold out for its run.
