300 is crazy talk. We pay a fee also, it's supposed to cover "events, field trips, etc..." and it's like 25 bucks if I remember correctly. Also public. 300?! Where and why?!

as a person raised in ks in a lower income household, the school district does have fee waivers for those whose income is too low. they also offer free and reduced lunch. all you need to do is ask the secretary at the school and they can get the forms to you. since brown ack city so much finding when I was still in school, the districts started charging fees to afford the programs that are deemed non essential bit have proven to have positive impacts on the students.

We don’t pay a fee nor supply list. The teachers will ask for a box of tissues sometimes or during holiday parties some snacks. We have a PTA that raises money for field day and one trip per grade. I could never do this… plus supply list plus shoes, clothes and a backpack. Oh man.

Yep, when we moved from KS to FL I asked where to pay and they looked at me like I was crazy. Moving back to KS we ended up somewhere that was $125 base enrollment. They will allow you child to attend if you can't pay immediately, but it will follow you until you pay it.

That’s crazy ! I have never heard that. My daughter went to school in FL though. That’s a good question about what happens to those whose parents can’t afford it. So sad.

Yes!here in Augusta Kansas $125 for middle school and $150 for elementary school Crazy. We didn’t pay anything in Washington State.

They can apply to have the fees waived. If they have medicaid or food stamps, then it can be waived completely. If not, they can waive some of it based on income
