@ng៖@ng៖Serious Violation by Thailand: Shelling Cambodia and the Preah Vihear Temple
On 24.07.2025 Thailand carried out a grave act of aggression against the sovereignty and peace of the Kingdom of Cambodia by launching heavy weaponry attacks into Cambodian territory, particularly targeting the area surrounding the Preah Vihear Temple.
Preah Vihear Temple is not only a national heritage of the Cambodian people but also a World Cultural Heritage site registered by UNESCO. The shelling of this site is an intolerable and unacceptable act of disrespect towards international cultural values and legal norms.
This action by Thailand demonstrates a blatant disregard for international law, peace agreements, and the safety of civilians living near the border. Multiple communes and districts near the temple have suffered from destruction, fear, injuries, and property loss.
The Cambodian people and government firmly condemn this act and urgently call upon the international community—including the United Nations (UN), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), and UNESCO—to intervene, investigate, and pressure Thailand to cease its hostilities and take responsibility for the violations committed.
Cambodia remains committed to peace. However, if peace continues to be repeatedly violated and the international community fails to recognize and respond to this aggression, the spirit of the Khmer nation must rise to defend our land, our history, and our national pride.
Preah Vihear Temple belongs to Cambodia. To protect it is to protect the soul of the Khmer nation.
