Grown wise to her manipulation, went 2 years no contact, if she tries anything I disappear again. I control the conversation, offering her no information about my new life, nothing for her to destroy or undermine, so instead she brings up any past negative events, to weaponise, I just change the topic of the conversation. I limit contact to her by phone, never visit her, I always keep control of the conversation, if she gets too much I simply give my excuses & hang up. Trying to explain my actions to her neighbours who view me as the ungrateful, disrespectful son is harder, as they see her as this sweet innocent old lady, if only they knew the monster that lays just beneath the surface. I cannot express strong enough how no contact is the route to deal with this, good luck to you all in this difficult situation.
