@marwan_awan: This is a very common mistake I’ve seen a lot of people make during wudu. Share with others you think this will help.

For you to say the wudu will be invalid, that’s a strong claim. Can you please provide your source

I haven’t read all of the comments so I hope I’m not repeating anything. Beginning with washing the hands first is Sunnah. The Prophet (SAWS) said in a Hadith and I am paraphrasing, when you wakes from your sleep and intends to perform wudu, begin with your hands first because you don’t know where your hands have been when you slept. This is a highly recommended Sunnah but not an obligation. The Obligation is to do what Allah said by washing your hands to the elbow. If that Fard (obligation) isn’t done as Allah has said, then that wudu in null and void. If one was to perform wudu as is described in Surah Maidah 5:6 by starting with the hands then the elbow it will be sufficient because that is the Fard (Obligatory) acts of wudu and Allah knows best. If one was to believe that simply washing the hands at the beginning takes place of doing so when washing the arms, then one must bring proof for that belief because this Deen has already been perfected as Allah has said in Surah Maidah 5:3. And Allah know best.

Then we have been taught all wrong! My guess is most of the people are making the same mistake. And washing your hands in the beginning is only sunnah? Again some thing most people don’t know.

Surah Maidah 5:6 [ “O you who have believed, when you rise to [perform] prayer, wash your faces and your forearms to the elbows and wipe over your heads and [wash] your feet to the ankles. And if you are in a state of janabah, then purify yourselves. But if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and do not find water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and hands with it. Allah does not intend to make difficulty for you, but He intends to purify you and complete His favor upon you that you may be grateful.” ] THIS IS THE PROPER WUDU.

Another forgotten sunnah is not being wasteful with water according to the following Hadith: Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, passed by Sa’d while he was performing ablution. The Prophet said, “What is this extravagance?” Sa’d said, “Is there extravagance with water in ablution?” The Prophet said, “Yes, even if you were on the banks of a flowing river.” Source: Musnad Aḥmad 7065 Grade: Sahih (authentic) according to Ahmad Shakir
