I’m on vacation with my family and today (7/29) was our last day on Maui more specifically Kihei. We’re from Mimai, Florida and although we’ve been through countless hurricanes none of us have ever experienced a tsunami. The place we were staying at was literally on the water (like less then .5 of a mile). We got the alert of the watch, then the warning and finally the mandatory evacuation alert. Our flight was supposed to leave at 10:45pm, but it just got cancelled. We were already packing up our bags when we got the second and third alerts. We threw everything into our bags and headed to the shelter in Wailuku (I believe it was there). We were supposed to fly into San Francisco, which is also under a tsunami warning and is supposed to hit land at 12:30am 7/30.
